These Terms & Conditions of Participation apply to anyone registering for, attending, or participating in the Falsonal UNO Championship Amsterdam 2026, scheduled for 15 October 2026 at Café Checkpoint Charlie, Nassaukade 48, 1052 CM Amsterdam, Netherlands (the "Event"). By submitting the registration form on the Site, you agree to these conditions.

If you're looking for the rules of the actual game (how a round is played, what counts as a foul, etc.), those are on the tournament rules page. This document covers the legal and logistical side of attending.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old on the day of the Event to participate. We will check ID at the door if you appear under 18. The Event takes place in a licensed venue, and we cannot make exceptions.

Falsonal organisers and members of their immediate families are not eligible to win prizes but may participate as players if seats are available after public registration closes.

2. Registration

Registration is free but mandatory. Walk-in attendance is not guaranteed. Registration is open until either (a) all 100 spots are filled or (b) 23:59 CEST on 12 October 2026, whichever comes first.

You may only register yourself. You may not register on behalf of another person without their explicit consent and accurate information. Registrations using false names, fake email addresses, or other inaccurate data may be cancelled at our discretion without notice.

3. Cancellation by you

If you can't make it, please email hello@falsonal.com as soon as possible. Cancellations help us offer your spot to someone on the waitlist. There are no fees or penalties — entry is free, so cancellation is too.

If you fail to show up without notice ("no-show"), we reserve the right to deprioritise your registration for future Falsonal events. Not as punishment — just because if we have a waitlist, we'd rather give next year's spot to someone who actually attended.

4. Cancellation by us

We may cancel, postpone, or modify the Event due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: venue unavailability, public health restrictions, severe weather, regulatory action, or low registration numbers. In such cases, we will notify all registered participants by email as far in advance as possible. We are not liable for travel costs, accommodation, or other expenses you may have incurred in connection with attending the Event.

5. Conduct at the Event

By attending, you agree to:

  • Follow the official tournament rules as published on the rules page.
  • Treat other players, organisers, venue staff, and the venue itself with respect.
  • Refrain from any form of harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or aggressive behaviour. This includes, but is not limited to, behaviour based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, age, or appearance.
  • Comply with the venue's house rules, including those related to alcohol service, smoking, and capacity.
  • Refrain from cheating, collusion, or any deliberate attempt to manipulate game outcomes.
  • Not bring any items prohibited by the venue (weapons, controlled substances, outside food/drink).

Violations may result in warnings, disqualification from the tournament, removal from the venue, and/or a ban from future Falsonal events. Serious violations may also be reported to the police.

6. Photography and media

The Event will be photographed and may be filmed for promotional and documentation purposes. By attending, you grant Falsonal a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use your image (including photos and video) for non-commercial promotion of Falsonal and future events.

If you do not want to be photographed, please tell the organisers at check-in. We'll give you a small marker to wear and the photographers will avoid taking your picture. We will honour this request without question.

7. Prizes

The tournament champion will receive a custom Falsonal trophy and a prize pack. Runner-up and top-eight finishers will receive smaller prizes. Specific prize contents may vary based on sponsor contributions and are not guaranteed.

Prizes have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money. Prizes are awarded on the night and must be collected in person — we do not ship unclaimed prizes. If a winner is not present at the prize ceremony, the prize will be awarded to the next-ranked finisher.

Tax implications, if any, of receiving a prize are the recipient's responsibility.

8. Liability

You attend the Event at your own risk. Falsonal, the venue, and our partners are not liable for:

  • Personal injury sustained at the Event, except where caused by gross negligence on our part.
  • Loss, theft, or damage to personal property brought to the venue.
  • Travel costs, accommodation, or other expenses related to your attendance.
  • Disputes between participants outside the scope of the tournament rules.

To the fullest extent permitted by Dutch law, our total liability to any participant for any matter arising from the Event is limited to fifty euros (€50).

9. Personal data

Information you submit through the registration form is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By registering, you consent to this processing.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions before the Event. Material changes will be communicated to registered participants via email. By continuing to be registered after such notice, you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree to the changes, you can cancel your registration without penalty.

11. Governing law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by Dutch law. Any disputes arising from your participation in the Event will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Amsterdam, Netherlands.
